Aric S. Jacover

Aric is an accomplished intellectual property attorney with extensive experience in trademark, copyright, internet, and media law. He spent eight years at Mayer Brown LLP as a key member of their intellectual property group, where he managed high-profile cases and complex transactions. In October 2010, he launched Jacover Law LLC to provide exceptional intellectual property counsel tailored to the needs of both startups and established businesses.

Over the course of his career, Aric has represented a broad spectrum of clients, from Fortune 500 companies to emerging entrepreneurs. While at Mayer Brown, he played a pivotal role on the litigation team for Google and YouTube in the landmark copyright case Viacom v. YouTube (S.D.N.Y.), described by Legal 500 as “arguably the most high-profile and momentous case in the copyright market.” At Jacover Law, he has continued to deliver strategic guidance to clients across diverse industries, including website development, social networking, video games, food and beverage, retail, publishing, music, and digital media.

Aric’s client roster includes some of Chicago’s most prominent cultural institutions, such as the Art Institute of Chicago, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and The Poetry Foundation. He also advises globally recognized brands like Encyclopaedia Britannica and Campbell Soup Company on trademark, copyright, and social media matters.

In addition to his legal practice, Aric has shared his expertise as an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School’s Business Enterprise Law Clinic and has actively contributed to the creative community through his involvement with Lawyers for the Creative Arts.
